No further coronavirus deaths in Sheffield as 35 more patients die in England

NHS England has announced another 35 deaths of hospital patients who tested postive for Covid-19.

The Covid-19 death toll for hospital patients in England so far during the pandemic is 28,794.

The figure does not include deaths in care homes or any other setting.

In Sheffield, a total of 286 hospital patients have died altogether, with the figure the same as it was yesterday.

Doncaster’s and Barnsley’s death death tolls also remain the same as yesterday, with 224 recorded in Doncaster and 145 in Barnsley.

One extra death has been recorded in Rotherham, with the town’s death toll now 194.

Coronvirus lockdown measures are set to be relaxed this weekend, with pubs and restaurants allowed to reopen.

In South Yorkshire, extra police officers will be on duty and emergency services are preparing for Saturday to be as busy as New Year;s Eve – traditionally one of the most challenging of the year.
