Sheffield on brink of 100 deaths as latest figures reveal 9,594 fatalities in England

Sheffield’s coronavirus death toll now stands at 98 – with another nine fatalities recorded over the last 24 hours.

NHS England figures released this afternoon show that 9,594 patients with coronavirus have died in hospitals in England since the outbreak began.

There are 1,137 confirmed cases in Sheffield.

In Doncaster 192 patients have been diagnosed with coronavirus and 34 have died – and increase of three on yesterday’s figures.

Rotherham has 321 confirmed cases and a death toll of 24 deaths – an increase of one since yesterday.

And in Barnsley, 297 cases have been confirmed and there have been 40 deaths – up two on yesterday’s figures.

The UK is on lockdown in a bid to halt the spread of coronavirus.

People can only kleave home for shopping, medical appointments or supplies, exercise once a day or for essential travel to work.
