Sheffield's coronavirus death toll goes up again

Sheffield’s coronavirus death toll has risen again, according to the latest figures released today.

NHS England data shows a total of 170 patients have now died in Sheffield hospitals after contracting Covid-19.

The figure is an increase of seven since yesterday.

A further 514 people, who tested positive for Covid-19, have died in England since yesterday’s results were released, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 16,786.

In Doncaster, 68 deaths have been recorded – up four compared to yesterday.

A total of 75 patients have died in Rotherham, which is up four on yesterday’s figures.

And in Barnsley, 56 patients have died – up three compared to yesterday.

The UK remains on lockdown until at least May 7 in a bid to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

People can only leave home for shopping, medical supplies and appointments, exercise and essential travel to work.
