According to NHS England, the city’s death toll now stands at 163.

A total of 16,272 patients have now died in hospitals in England, up 665 on yesterday’s figure.

Doncaster has recorded 64 coronavirus deaths – up one on yesterday.

There have been 71 patient deaths in Rotherham – an increase of seven on yesterday’s figure; and 53 deaths have been recorded in Barnsley, which is the same as yesterday.

The UK remains on lockdown in a bid to halt the spread of Covid-19.
