Their efforts have paid off, and they have collected an incredible total of £1,919.35.

Tony Cartwright, one of the fundraisers, said: "Our group came together about 12 years ago when we were all extras in a zombie film. There were a few of us who decided to start doing stuff for charity.

"We chose Sheffield Children’s because when my daughter, Demi, was young, she was diagnosed with diabetes and the hospital did a lot for us.

"She was really scared of needles and the staff there were so friendly. They couldn’t do enough for us and made her feel at ease."

As well as zombies, the group take on other characters like clowns and The Nun, along with some not-so-scary characters like those from Harry Potter.

Tony said: "We do weddings, we get hired for birthday parties, and we go to a lot of comic cons.

"We even took our collection tins down to London for The Walking Dead convention. We’ve been all over the country getting the Sheffield Children’s name out there far and wide."

The group is heading to Doncaster Fear Factory this Halloween, and will continue to raise money for Sheffield Children’s at future events.

Tony said: "We have a lot of fun, and people love us. We’re doing another event later this year and we’ll be taking the tins to that one.

"If anyone else wants to raise money for The Children’s Hospital Charity, they should. You can’t get much stranger than us!

"Walk, run, just be there raising any kind of money you can, because the staff at Sheffield Children’s do a tremendous job." If, like Z Walkers, you want to get spooky and lift spirits this Halloween, sign up for the Charity’s Virtual Halloween Walk, happening throughout October.
