On Friday at 7pm, the video of Hugh Waterhouse’s popular talk Walkley: from Pasture to Parish will premiere.
This delves into the farms, woodlands, industries and halls that preceded the houses. Hugh’s talk on Crime and Punishment in 19th-century Walkley goes online in January.

The trail and talks join the recent unveiling of a new mural in Walkley which celebrates the Freehold Land Societies that started creating the garden suburb.
Painted by artist Nicole White, it overlooks Walkley Green on the end of Aesthete Coffee & Kitchen, South Road.
Walkley Historians also published a book on the Victorian origins of Walkley in the spring. It is available to buy for £10 online and from Beeches of Walkley and Walkley Library.
