Bodies 2023: Wentworth Woodhouse reveals Netflix series' Longharvest Lane was shot at hidden location on site

The foreboding and pivotal crime scene of Longharvest Lane was filmed at none other than Rotherham's-own stately home.

A South Yorkshire stately home has revealed how key scenes in a new Netflix series starring Stephen Graham were shot in a hidden location on site.

Last week saw the debut of the hit new time-twisting crime thriller Bodies based on the graphic novel of the same name written by Sheffield's-own Si Spencer.

The show has been a treat for Yorkshire viewers after much of the production was filmed around the region, including Grimsby, Hull, Leeds, and even Sheffield's Park Hill flats.

Now, Rotherham's Wentworth Woodhouse has revealed how the pivotal setting of Longharvest Lane in the show filmed in a secret location on their grounds that is off-limits to visitors.

The stately home's team said in a statement on Facebook: "Has anybody been watching the new hit series #Bodies (starring Stephen Graham) on Netflix?

The alleyway at Wentworth Woodhouse can be seen here in Netflix's Bodies as Longharvest Lane. The story of Bodies centers on solving how a body - the same body - is found on Longharvest Lane in 1890, 1941, 2023 and 2053, leading to a detective from each time period investigating the case.

As such a crucial piece of the puzzle, the out-of-bounds nook at Wentworth Woodhouse will lend its presence to many scenes throughout the limited series.

Peaky Blinder’s Stephen Graham plays a central role as Commander Mannix, while the four detectives are played by Unorthodox’s Shira Haas, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd from The Queen’s Gambit, Amaka Okafor from The Sandman, and Kyle Soller, best known for Anna Karenina.

It's far from the first time Wentworth Woodhouse has been used for filming, and has been the set for Oscar-winning feature films such as Darkest Hour and worldwide hit TV series including ITV’s Victoria and BBC’s Gentleman Jack, Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Charles III, and Billionaire Boy.
