It’s Boxing Day. The Christmas presents have all been opened, the chocolate stocks have been massively depleted, and you’ve remembered why you don’t play board games with the family. It’s time to get outside.
If you’ve found yourself at a loose end this Boxing Day, check out our list below with just a few ideas to help you and your family make the most of the festive holidays.
5. Grenoside Sword Dancers
If you’re looking for something a bit different this year, don’t hesitate to head over to Grenoside to catch a performance from one of Sheffield’s oldest dancing societies. The Grenoside Sword Dancers will be gathering outside the Old Harrow Inn on Main Street at 11am. Make the most of your visit by taking a walk through Grenoside Woods after, or by visiting one of the cafes or pubs in the neighbourhood. (Photo Danny Lawson) Photo: Danny Lawson
6. Walk!
If you’ve overeaten this Christmas, you may just appreciate a walk with your loved ones. We have put together a full list of Sheffield walks for you this Boxing Day which you can find on our website. The National Trust's Longshaw estate is one option of many. Photo: Brian Eyre
7. Get yourself to one of Sheffield’s pubs or bars
Nothing screams Boxing Day more than a cheeky drink. If you’re heading out into the Sheffield city centre, be sure to visit the Red Deer on Pitt Street, The Three Tuns on Silver Street Head, and the Rutland Arms on Brown Street. Photo: Chris Etchells
8. Sick of turkey? Head out for a meal
You’ve treated everyone else, now it’s time to treat yourself. Book a table at one of Sheffield’s splendid restaurants this Boxing Day to avoid another day of standing over the stove and keep the festive cheer flowing. Some restaurants open on Boxing Day include Browns at St Pauls Chambers, Ego Mediterranean Restaurant & Bar on Surrey Street, and Piccolino on Millennium Square. (Pictured is Ego). Photo: Submitted
