Indoor dining will be permitted from next Monday, May 17, meaning customers can return to old favourites at the popular Sheffield shopping centre like Nando’s, Five Guys and Wagamama, while Handmade Burger Co will be making a comeback, just over a year after the chain collapsed.

Vue Cinema at Meadowhall will also welcome back viewers from Monday as lockdown restrictions are eased again, with tickets available to book now for shows including Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway.

The return of indoor dining means the centre’s capacity will increase, though the maximum number of visitors allowed in at any one time will remain capped to prevent overcrowding and ensure social distancing can be maintained.

Shoppers have been asked to queue outside at busy times during the last two weekends and those visiting at peak hours may still have to wait before entering.

Meadowhall’s one-way system will remain in place, with visitors asked to keep left, and the hand sanitising stations and enhanced cleaning will also be maintained to keep shoppers and staff safe.

At the Oasis Quarter, staff at two concierge desks will greet diners and help guide them to designated queuing and seating areas.

Diners will be required to wear face coverings when not seated.

Darren Pearce, Meadowhall’s centre director, said: “This is another big moment for us all at Meadowhall. It’s exciting for us to finally be able to open up our full offer, giving visitors the chance to really enjoy a full day out with us for shopping, dining and leisure.

“The wellbeing and safety of everyone at Meadowhall remains our priority, so visitors can rest assured that we have extra measures in place to help everyone safely enjoy their experience with us.”

Meadowhall’s two outdoor dining areas will remain in place, having recently been expanded to meet demand, with tables allocated on a fist-come-first-served basis and no need to book.
