Tesco, Sainsbury's, Morrisons and other shops in Sheffield urge shoppers to return items including 'raw, uncooked prawns' over public health concerns - full list

Several of the UK's leading supermarkets recalled a number of products due to food safety concerns only a month ago – but now more food and drinks across the supermarkets in Sheffield have been recalled.

The items to be recalled include food and drink from leading supermarkets across the UK including Asda, Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Lidl and Aldi.

Reasons for the recalls include health and safety concerns from erroneous ingredients, contaminants including small pieces of glass and metal, potential raw foods, wrong labelling and 'use-by' dates.

Sainsbury’s

Sainsbury’s is recalling their Sainsbury’s Cooked and Peeled Frozen Large King Prawns because of possibility of under-cooked prawns which may make this product unsafe to eat.

Any packs with the use by dates of May 2023, June 2023, July 2023, August 2023, September 2023, and October 2023 have been recalled, they have advised customers to not eat the product and should return it for a full refund.

Ben & Jerry's is also recalling one batch of Ben & Jerry's Moo-phoria Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Ice Cream sold at Sainsbury's. As a result of a packaging error, it has the incorrect lid of Ben & Jerry's Salted Caramel Brownie Ice Cream resulting in peanuts not being mentioned on the lid – Which means the product is a health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts.

If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to peanuts do not eat it, but instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

Waitrose is recalling their Waitrose Frozen Cooked and Peeled Jumbo King Prawns and Essential Frozen Cooked King Prawns because they may contain raw, uncooked prawns and due to the presence of raw, uncooked prawns it makes this product unsafe to eat.

Any packs of the Waitrose Essential Frozen Cooked King Prawns with the use by dates codes up to and including February 2024 have been recalled, and for the Waitrose Frozen Cooked and Peeled Jumbo King Prawns all date codes up to and including June 2023 have also been recalled.

Waitrose have advised customers to not eat the product and should return it for a full refund.

The supermarket also has urgently recalled a batch of its rainbow trout fillets which have been found to contain harmful bacteria. It can cause flu symptoms and, in rare cases, it can cause serious complications such as meningitis.

According to the Food Standards Agency, "symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick, and diarrhoea". The FSA adds that, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis

Alpro Rice drink

Alpro UK Limited is recalling part of a batch of Alpro Rice drink because it contains oats, or gluten, which is not mentioned on the label which means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to oats or gluten.

This batch is being taken off the above supermarkets’ shelves immediately, as a precaution. Any Alpro Rice Drink with a batch code number of L0902 should be returned to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.

SPAR Hazelnut Choco

SPAR has also recalled a product with missing allergen information. SPAR Spread Up Hazelnut Choco 400g is being recalled because it contains almonds which are not mentioned on the label.

Those with nut allergies should return the product to the store for a full refund.

Morrisons

Morrisons is recalling several breaded chicken products because they may contain small pieces of glass, making them unsafe to eat.

These include packs from: Morrisons Breaded Chicken Nuggets, Morrisons Breaded Chicken Platter Morrisons Breaded Chicken Steaks with a use by date of June 18, June 19 June 21.

Lidl

Lidl GB is extending the recall of Starovice Czech Lager 5.0% to include additional date codes because it contains sulphur dioxide which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

Lidl has recalled its Glensallagh Glazed and Grilled American Style Cajun Shaved Ham. It contains wheat which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten.

Any packs with the use by dates of June 3, June 15, June 17 and June 22 have been recalled, they have advised customers to not eat the product if they have a gluten allergy and should return it for a full refund.

And to add to that, Lidl GB is recalling Alesto Californian Pistachios Roasted & Salted because salmonella has been found in the product

Tesco

Tesco is recalling Tesco Frozen All Butter Croissants 6 pack because it may contain almonds (nuts) not mentioned on the label.

Mars Food UK is recalling Dolmio Carbonara Pasta Sauce Pouch and Dolmio Carbonara Pasta Sauce Stir-in because they contain soya which is not mentioned on the label. This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to soya.

If you have bought the mentioned products and have an allergy to soya, do not eat them and request a refund, they are: Dolmio Carbonara Pasta Sauce Pouch with a sell by date of 28 February 2023, 01 March 2023 or the Dolmio Carbonara Pasta Sauce Stir-in with a sell by date of 26, 27 April 2023

Tesco is also recalling their Tesco Chicken and Vegetable cup soup with croutons because it may contain small pieces of metal and the possible presence of small pieces of metal makes this product unsafe to eat.

And lastly, Tesco is recalling Tesco Free From Digestive Biscuits because they may contain small pieces of metal which make it unsafe to eat.

Co-op

Co-op is recalling Co-op Peri peri Chicken Pasta Bowl and Co-op Prawn Marie Rose Layered Salad because they have been labelled with a 'use-by' date of 01 July 2022 instead of 01 June 2022.

Kinder

Last but not least, the popular ferrero chocolate brand, Kinder will be pulled from shelves soon as a selection of European labelled Kinder products manufactured at the Arlon factory in Belgium, may be contaminated with Salmonella.

Investigations have found that some products, intended for the European market only and which have already been recalled by Ferrero in Europe, have been imported into the UK by UK importers not linked to Ferrero.
