Søstrene Grene Sheffield: Opening date for new Cambridge Street shop, with free gifts for first 100 customers

The popular Danish homeware chain Søstrene Grene is due to open its new store in Grosvenor House on Cambridge Street, near the old John Lewis and just up from the fashion shops Weekday and Monki, and Marmadukes cafe, on Friday, July 28. The store will be the company’s first in Yorkshire.

The grand opening from 10am will include a big giveaway, refreshments and live classical music from a string trio. The first 100 customers will receive a voucher for a free large, tufted rug worth £60, plus a canvas goodie bag filled with Søstrene Grene products.

What will Søstrene Grene sell at its new Sheffield shop?

Søstrene Grene has built a reputation for selling affordable Scandinavian chic, including furniture and other furnishings, hobby items, children’s toys, kitchen accessories and food. It already has branches in Manchester, Derby and London, among other locations, but is expanding across the UK to bring its cosy Danish ‘hygge’ aesthetic to more homes around the nation.

The new store is part of the huge Heart of the City project transforming Sheffield city centre, which is led by Sheffield City Council and Queensberry, the council’s strategic development partner. It also includes a new hotel opening soon, a food hall and the redevelopment of the former John Lewis and Cole Brothers store.

Councillor Ben Miskell, chair of Sheffield City Council’s Transport, Regeneration and Climate Policy Committee, said: “We are hugely excited to see Søstrene Grene open in Heart of the City later this month. We’re proud to be the first location in Yorkshire to welcome the brand and confident it will go down a storm with our shoppers. It’s a fantastic long-term addition to the city centre and reflects the quality of brands we are targeting for the development.”
