Above the call of duty

Head of midwifery, Sue Gibson and the 120-strong pathology team were both recognised for their outstanding contributions over the past 12 months.

Hospital chairman, Gordon Firth said: “We have some incredible staff at Barnsley Hospital who, no matter what, give a commitment which goes far beyond the norm. Every year it gets harder and harder to single any one person or any one team because the standards staff set themselves are so high.

“However, we do have to pick winners and this year both Sue and the pathology team demonstrated they’d gone that little bit extra to become the very worthy winners and I am absolutely delighted to be able to present them with their awards.”
