WHAT are those strange black pillars appearing in the pavements on Sharrowvale Road, Sheffield?

They are the bottom half of the parking meters for when city council traffic supremo Trevor 'Fat Controller' Fox's new Hunter's Bar parking scheme comes into effect.

At least one is slap bang in the middle of the pavement and an obvious hazard to the blind.

Funny, isn't it, how the council is so quick to take down advertising A-boards for this very reason?

WITH a different pantomime company at the Lyceum this Christmas it won't be three in a row for actor-director Andrew Ray who has been such a hit as the dame these last two seasons.
