Around 35 commuters were on the tram, bound for Meadowhall, when it was in a crash with a lorry on West Street just before 7am.

Debris was scattered all over the road and the front of the lorry was seriously damaged.

The tram was travelling at around 10mph at the time of the impact - which passengers said lessened the force of the impact.
