Bridegroom lifts off to wedding day with his head in the clouds

NOBODY expects you to keep your feet on the ground on your wedding day...but Doncaster groom Craig Heseltine showed he was really on a high with a trip in a helicopter.

Craig, from Edenthorpe, was completely unaware of the chopper ride his parents had organised until the aircraft landed at Doncaster School for the Deaf to whisk Craig, aged 25, off to his wedding at the Weetwood Hall Hotel in Leeds.

Dad Steve said: “Weddings are usually for the bride and we wanted to do something different. We planned it about six months ago and kept it secret. Craig was picked up in a Hummer and, because we had to wait for the helicopter, the car had to keep going on detours. Craig was starting to get worried that his wife had changed her mind!

“Even when he saw the helicopter he didn’t realise it was for him. I was a very proud dad on the day. It’s nice to spoil my family on a day like that. It was mine and my wife’s idea really. It’s the first time we’ve ever agreed on anything!”

And Craig’s blushing bride Helen, 24, won’t miss out on a ride in a whirlybird - the couple’s honeymoon plans include a trip through the Grand Canyon - by helicopter!
