Campaigners show their love for trees on Valentine’s Day
Heartwood will be launched on Thursday – Valentine’s Day – on the avenue of lime trees on Montgomery Road in Nether Edge, which campaigners say are still under threat.
The trees will be decorated with big red hearts, woolly animals and bunting as some of the choir sing the song live at 12.30pm.

Hide AdTree campaigner and musician Sally Goldsmith said: “Heartwood is a charm-against-harm and was especially written by Robert Macfarlane, arguably the most famous writer of the natural world. Robert wrote it for Sheffield trees but also all trees threatened with unjust felling.
“My musician and fellow songwriter Val Regan and I set it to music and we gathered a 50 strong community choir of street tree activists and their supporters to rehearse, sing and record it.
“We successfully crowdfunded all the production costs so all proceeds go to Save Sheffield Trees.”
