Cancer charity launches services to help sufferers cope financially

THESE experts are hoping to help Doncaster's cancer sufferers deal with the impact the illness has on their finances.

A national survey of cancer patients in England and Wales, Macmillan found that apart from the diagnosis, the biggest concern for patients and their families was loss of income and how to replace it.

Now Doncaster has a new service provided by Macmillan Cancer Support and the Citizen’s Advice Bureau to help them through any difficulties.

Former health minister Rosie Winterton, MP for Doncaster Central, visited those who work for the service at its launch at Doncaster College’s Waterfront site.

Weekly advice sessions are being held at the St John’s Hospice Information and Support Centre, in Balby, with weekly sessions planned for Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Thorne and Mexborough’s Montagu Hospital. Home visits can also be arranged.
