Champion boxer shares his experiences with Sheffield youngsters
What does it take to be a champion?
Liam Cameron is one athlete who knows the answer.
He has overcome adversity to win the Commonwealth boxing title at middleweight.
And he shared his life story and experiences with youngsters during a visit to the Fitness Factory in Sheffield."Liam was great with the kids; he did a Q&A and had photo with everyone and signed anything they wanted" said the gym's Bill Gavins.Cameron defends his title against Brighton's Nicky Jenman at iceSheffield on April 27.The Manor Park fighter twice lost attempts on the Commonwealth belt, but persistence paid off and he finally won the trinket last October, overcoming fellow Sheffielder Sam Sheedy.
Cameron, and his trainer Chris Smedley, will have their eyes on the world stage if he successfully defends the title.
And he will have a new set of young fans cheering him on, too, after his trip to Halfway.
