Children's home has green strategy

A CHILDREN'S home in Doncaster is doing its bit to tackle climate change.

The National Children’s Homes’ Wheatley children’s Centre has launched an environmental strategy looking at how it will deal with issues such as energy, fuel and water conservation and waste disposal. Staff are also educating families who use services at the centre about environmental issues and what they can do to help.

Kate Hall, project worker of NCH Wheatley Children’s Centre, said: “What started out as a conversation in the office between staff about how we could do our bit to help conserve energy, has escalated into a region-wide campaign to get people to think more about the environment.

“Everyone at the centre and the families who benefit from our services are really behind this strategy and committed to doing what we can.”

The strategy has included installing water saving devices from national company Hippo UK.
