Community cash on offer for projects

Projects which improve environments within 10 miles of a landfill site can benefit from handouts distributed by Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd - known as WREN.

The funding is available under the Landfill Communities Fund which has so far given almost 100 million to 4,000 needy projects across the UK.

WREN managing director Peter Cox said: “Whether you are hoping to build a new playground, restore a historic building, or plant more trees, WREN could be a source of funding.

“ There has been a shortfall of applications across Derbyshire and we want to reiterate the fact that there is money available.”
