Cost of putting flight to pests

FEES have been introduced by council chiefs to control pests such as wasps and ants in homes.

North East Derbyshire District Council has moved into line with other local authorities in Derbyshire who already charge for pest control services.

People on income-related benefits such as housing or council tax benefit will receive a 50 per cent reduction on the charges. The council will continue to control rats, cockroaches and bed bugs for free.

New charges are 40 for wasp and bee treatments and 47 for ant and flea treatments in domestic properties.
