Couple mugged as they walked home

A TEENAGE girl was grabbed from behind and robbed as she walked home with her boyfriend, who was then attacked for trying to intervene.

Police are appealing for information about the assault on the 17-year-old girl as she walked along Wath Road, Mexborough, in the early hours.

The couple were with a group of teenagers walking near the Roman pub.

The girl had an MP3 player in one hand and her mobile in another when she was grabbed from behind and the property was taken.

Her boyfriend, aged 20, tried to intervene and he was punched in the face, causing swelling to his eye.

One suspect was white, in his late teens, 6ft tall, thin, and wearing a black baseball cap. He also wore a dark hooded jacket with “Cabretta” printed on one sleeve, with the hood worn over his cap and his tracksuit bottoms tucked into his socks.

The other suspect was a white female, 5ft 2ins tall, aged 17 to 18, and stocky. She was wearing a white padded jacket with fur on the hood.
