Action called for on Sheffield street after cars spotted 'racing at motorway speeds'

A resident concerned about cars ‘racing at motorway speeds’ on his street has asked for action before somebody is killed.

The man, who has lived on Walkley Bank Road, Walkley, for seven years tagged councillors Ben Curran and Neale Gibson into a Facebook post about his street.

He said: “Just been passed by two cars racing at motorway speeds up Walkley Bank Road, in heavy rain.

“The second was flying past the residents' line of cars by less than a foot.

“Any car coming from Hawthorne Street to Lister Road would have been ended.

“This was the highest sped and most dangerous driving I have ever seen in seven years of living on Walkley Bank, and that is saying something.

“It is getting worse. Ben Curran and Neale Gibson is there any realistic chance of some traffic controls on my and many others’ roads soon?

“I really hope someone doesn’t have to die for action to be taken.”
