Arrest made over fire engine crash in Sheffield

An arrest has been made after a collision in Sheffield between a car and a fire engine.

Emergency services were deployed to High Street, Mosborough, just after 8pm yesterday following reports of a collision between a blue Ford Fiesta and a fire engine.

The fire engine ended up coming to rest in a garden after crashing through a wall.

A lamppost was also damaged in the incident.

South Yorkshire Police said a passenger from the car involved in the crash was arrested and remains in custody today.

The force said: “Emergency services were called to reports of a road traffic collision on Mosborough High Street at just after 8pm yesterday evening.

“It is reported that a blue Ford Fiesta was in collision with a fire engine.

“A 29-year-old man, who was a passenger in the car, was arrested on suspicion of causing danger to other road users and remains in custody.”
