The ‘big bear’ statue on The Moor outside Debenhams has been ripped away from its pedestal and is no longer fastened in place.
The installation – which was designed by illustrator Geo Law and has ‘Be Nice’ emblazoned on its chest – reportedly has a member of the exhibition team standing by it today (August 1) to prevent any further damage.

The trail was unveiled in July and has so far raised £2,338,50 for the The Children’s Hospital Charity.
It is formed from 60 ‘big bears’ and 100 ‘little bears’ scattered across the city, with each sponsored by schools, businesses and organisations.
It comes after several bears were defaced last week with stickers of QR codes linking to anti-vaccine website.
