A police officer tweeting as TheMoustacheCop shared photos of the aftermath of the blaze, which he said had given away the drug factory’s location.

He said police had attended the property in Rotherham along with firefighters from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue during the early hours of this morning, Friday, May 8.

“People don’t realise how dangerous these can be with electric meters damaged and overloaded wiring,” he wrote.

“This terrace was minutes away from being fully ablaze, putting lives at risk.”

Just after leaving that job, he said officers received a report of another cannabis set-up in Rotherham, from which 24 plants were recovered.

He said this site demonstrated the risks posed by bad electrics, with the meter having been bypassed as criminals hooked up directly to the ‘main electric feed’.

Police said one person was arrested at the second property.
