A CCTV image of a man South Yorkshire Police are seeking in connection to a Sheffield city centre burglary has sparked an array of comedic comments over his shocked expression.

Officers from the city centre neighbourhood policing team are hoping to locate the man, following reports a purse and wallet were taken from a flat on Solly Street. The incident is said to have taken place in a Velocity Village apartment on September 14, 2022 at around 12.40pm, and investigating officers are keen to find the man in the picture as he may be able to help with their enquiries.

The appeal has been posted to Facebook, where users have been quick to poke fun at the man, whose face can be seen clearly in the image. One commenter asked: “Did he just catch sight of himself in a mirror?” Another commented “go go gadget arm” in reference to the similarities between the man’s headwear and that of cartoon character Inspector Gadget.

Another commenter said: “Looks like the face a baby pull [sic] when it does something naughty for attention.” Others have posted gifs of animals and celebrities like Frank Sinatra pulling similarly shocked faces, and one man shared his envy for the man’s ability to grow such a “dashing tash”.
