Sheffield Crown Court heard on March 2 how Joshua Owen, aged 23, of Orphanage Road, near Pitsmoor, Sheffield, had breached a suspended sentence of 30 weeks of custody suspended for eighteen months which had been imposed for an assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Richard Davies, prosecuting, said Owen showed some compliance with a curfew but failed to contact the probation service for appointments in October and January.
Recorder David Kelly raised concerns because Owen was not legally represented but the defendant was content to proceed and told the judge: “Crack on with it.”
After Owen was sentenced to six months of custody he said, “Nice one, seeya later”, to which Recorder Kelly replied, “I hope not”, to which Owen laughed.
