Drunk man arrested after 'belly-flopping' on police patrol car

A man has been arrested after he drunkenly belly-flopped on a police patrol car in Sheffield.

The incident, which took place in Broomhall last night, begun when a taxi driver asked officers for help in removing a customer from his cab.

On arrival, a 32-year-old man was found to be ‘heavily intoxicated’ and was refusing to leave the taxi.

“We patiently negotiated with the man before he eventually saw reason and left the taxi rather than be arrested,” said Sergeant Adam Wood.

“However, seemingly not content with his freedom, the man ran at full speed towards PC Shaw and Omar's patrol car, twirled around like the Angel of the North, jumped into the air, and belly-flopped on the police vehicles bonnet!”

The man was arrested for being drunk and disorderly, received a £90 ticket, and was also found to be wanted for failing to appear for drugs offences at magistrates’ court.
