When was the shooting?

Emergency services were alerted to the shooting at around 9.50pm on Thursday, March 18.

Where was the gun attack?

The shooting occurred close to Halfords on Queens Road, in Heeley.

Who was injured?

An 18-year-old man was the only known victim in the gun attack.

How is the victim?

He sustained gunshot wounds to his leg and was taken to hospital in a serious condition. He is stable and expected to remain in hospital for a few more days.

What happened on the night of the shooting?

Police received reports of a fight involving a number of men and when they arrived the group had dispersed. Officers found the injured man at the scene.

Have any arrests been made?

As of last night South Yorkshire Police had not made any arrests.

The shooting is being treated as a targeted attack.

Yes, extra police patrols have been carried out in the Heeley area in the aftermath of the attack.

Yes, they want witnesses to the shooting or anyone who may have seen anything unusual to come forward. They also want motorists who were driving in the area that night to check dashcam footage for anything which may be helpful to those investigating.

Superintendent Simon Verrall said ‘specialist teams’ are carrying out enquiries into the shooting.

He urged members of the local community with concerns to speak to officers they see on the streets following the gun attack.
