Family devastated as uncle and nephew aged 20 and 24 killed in Meadowhall crash

Tommy Hydes, aged 24 and his nephew Josh, 20, died when the white GLA Mercedes they were travelling in ploughed through railings on a bridge over the River Don on Meadowhall Way on Saturday night.
The car plunged into the water below and a huge rescue operation was mounted by emergency services in a desperate effort to save the pair.

Hide AdThe men were taken to hospital but despite the efforts of medics they could not be revived and were pronounced dead a short time later.
South Yorkshire Police said family members were informed of the tragedy that night and are being supported by specially trained police officers.
Investigations are continuing to determine the exact circumstances of the incident, which has been described as ‘tragic’ by Detective Chief Inspector James Axe, who is leading the police probe.
Friends and family gathered last night to remember Josh and Tommy, with fireworks let off at Kiveton Recreation Ground in their memory.

Hide AdJosh’s brother, Tim Hydes, posted about the event on Facebook beforehand and said everybody was welcome to attend to ‘show your love’.
In an earlier heart-wrenching post he shared a photograph of him and his brother and wrote ‘love you my brother’.
Floral tributes have been left at the crash scene, where mourners have gathered to remember Josh and Tommy since news of their deaths broke.
