Heartening photo shows mounted police with ‘mesmerised’ Firth Park children

The heartening picture emerged yesterday - nearly a week after 35-year-old father-of-two Marcus Ramsay died from stab wounds inflicted at a nearby house party on Horninglow Road.
Dad of two was Marcus, from Firth Park, was rushed to Northern General Hospital but could not be saved and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Hide AdPosting about the uplifting photo on social media mounted officer PC Reed wrote how the children shown - Asaph and his sister Abbie - ‘were mesmerised by the horses’.
He wrote (SIC): “Whilst patrolling Firth Park in #Sheffield following a harrowing incident, #SYPMounted came across this delightful family waving across the fields.
“Young Asaph and his sister Abbie were mesmerised by the horses and their beaming smiles and intelligent questions cheered us all up!”
On Saturday August 8 police and paramedics were scrambled to the scene of the stabbing at 12.20am.

Hide AdPolice told how they battled through a crowd of 100 people gathered in the street to get to injured Marcus and provide first aid until ambulances could reach him.
Four other men - all 24 - were also injured during the incident and were treated at hospital but survived.
No arrests have yet been made.
