A man died after being found seriously injured near to Sheffield railway station this morning.

The man, who has not been named, was found with serious injuries on Cross Turner Street in the city centre just before 2am.

He was unable to be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The street where the injured man was found runs close to the taxi rank and drop-off point at the railway station.

South Yorkshire Police said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

The force said: “Police were called at 1.54am this morning with reports of a man with serious injuries on Cross Turner Road in Sheffield.

“On emergency services’ arrival at the scene, the man was sadly pronounced dead.

“Enquiries are underway but his death is not believed to be suspicious.”

The road was closed off earlier this morning while enquiries were carried out at the scene.
