Police cordon in place on major Sheffield road amid reports of a shooting

A police cordon is in place on a major Sheffield road this evening after a man was reportedly shot in the foot.

An area of Abbeydale Road, on the corner with Chippinghouse Road, is sealed off this evening outside of the H H J convenience store and the area remains under police guard.

Another cordon is also in place nearby, covering Harwell Road, Wolseley Road and Gamston Road.

An eyewitness said a young man was shot in the foot on one of the roads and ran into the convenience store for help.

His injuries are reportedly not life-threatening.

Crime scene investigation officers have been deployed.

South Yorkshire Police have been contacted for comment.
