An investigation was launched after police received reports that an 18-year-old girl had been raped in a vehicle in Endcliffe Park at around 11.30pm on Tuesday.

Huge crowds had gathered at the popular park all day to enjoy the sunshine and meet friends again after the easing of lockdown rules.

It was reported that the incident occurred in a silver or grey Mercedes, which had been parked in one of the spaces close to the tennis courts.

Afterwards, the suspect left the scene in the car in the direction of Hunter's Bar roundabout.

He was Asian, in his 20s and wearing a white T-shirt and black joggers or jeans.
