Police on the lookout for car thieves in Sheffield postcode area

Police are investigating thefts and attempted thefts of cars in the S11 area of Sheffield.

The investigation follows reports of two incidents where cars were either stolen, or people were attempting to gain access to parked vehicles.

A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said: “Between 11.30pm on Saturday 20 February and 9am on Sunday 21 February, persons unknown have gained access to a house on Springfield Road in Millhouses area of Sheffield.

“The key for a grey Volkswagen Passat and a red Mazda were found inside the house and both cars were taken from the drive outside the house.”

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 101 quoting incident no 0098 of 24 February 2021.

A few days later on a nearby street another similar incident was reported.

Police said: “On Wednesday morning (24 February) at 3.17am we were called to reports of a group of men trying car doors on Greystones Road in Sheffield. Officers attended.

“It is reported that the group gained entry to one car, a black Peugeot 207. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing was taken from the car.”

Anyone with information about the second incident is asked to call 101 quoting inc 0243 of 21 February.
