Police release more details on shooting in Sheffield street

A 28-year-old man was shot in his upper body on Staniforth Road, Darnall, on Saturday, January 4.
It has emerged today that the man was walking along the street when two cars pulled up, ‘several people’ got out and a ‘confrontation’ took place.

Hide AdThe victim, a Sheffield man, was taken to hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and South Yorkshire Police said he is now ‘recovering’.
No arrests have yet been made.
South Yorkshire Police said: “Enquiries are ongoing to identify those involved and we are looking for several people in connection to the incident.
“The victim was walking along Staniforth Road when several people have got out of two cars and a confrontation has taken place. This has resulted in the victim being shot once to his upper body. He was taken to hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is now recovering.”
Descriptions or CCTV footage of the incident or suspects have not yet been released by detectives.

Hide AdThe incident is being treated as a ‘targeted attack’.Police patrols have been stepped up in Darnall in the wake of the shooting.Detective Inspector Lee Nesbeth, who is leading the police probe into the shootong, said: “Our priority is identifying those involved and keeping the people of Sheffield safe and our dedicated team are working tirelessly to do just that.”
