Police release picture of serial thief and lockdown burglar who struck in Sheffield

Sheffield Crown Court heard on October 15 how Ricky Wilson, aged 35, formerly of Danewood Gardens, Castlebeck, Sheffield, struck at the property on Cavendish Road, Brincliffe, Sheffield, on April 12.
Ian West, prosecuting, said members of the public contacted police to report two males acting suspiciously and Wilson was identified from CCTV at the property as a man who had previously done work at the home.

Hide AdJudge Sarah Wright pointed out that the complainant lived at the property with his elderly mother and they have both been traumatised.
She said: “He got to know this defendant as a result of him working on his property and he had been invited into his home and was aware of the circumstances that work was having to be done at the home and his mother was nearly 80.”
She added: “The victim and his mother were present and it was during lockdown.”
Wilson, who has previous convictions, pleaded guilty to the burglary and also admitted six shop thefts.

Hide AdKaty Rafter, defending, said: “There was trauma to the victims beyond the usual in particular in that they were clearly described as being in lockdown and being in the premises when the offence took place.”
But she added that Wilson has spent three months remanded in custody and after a long-term heroin addiction he has managed to get drug-free and aims to remain drug-free.Judge Wright sentenced Wilson to three years of custody.
