Sheffield drugs den shut down by police with more to face closure

Sheffield North East Neighbourhood Policing Team said its Parson Cross officers have secured a three-month closure of an address in Southey in response to a drug-related criminal activity.

The operation was done after having recently executed a warrant at the address on North Hill Road, with the assistance from the Safer Neighbourhood Services who applied for the closure order under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.

The police said: “We will use the full remit of the law to tackle such issues and we hope that it provides reassurance to our residents and serves as a warning to others who incorrectly think that they can persistently make their neighbours’ lives a misery through drug related crime.”

They said this was the latest in a “long line of properties” the team has closed in relation to drug activity and anti-social behaviour.

"We are currently progressing another three local address – two in Fox Hill and one in Southey – that we hope to close down in the next couple of weeks.

“Officers will conduct regular checks of the house over the next three months to ensure that the order is not breached.

“If anyone is found to have breached it they are liable to be arrested and face up to six months in prison, an unlimited fine or both. The closure order is another example of our commitment to targeting those who undermine our communities through unacceptable behaviour.”
