South Yorkshire Police cordon off street after shots fired at van and an ‘aggravated burglary’

Hawthorne Avenue, Rawmarsh, was sealed off after reports of ‘two firearms incidents’ in a short space of time.
At 9.55pm yesterday, reports were received of shots being were fired towards an unoccupied vehicle parked on Hawthorne Avenue.

Hide AdAt the same time there were also reports of an ‘aggravated burglary’ at a nearby address, during which a gun was seen but not fired.
Nobody was hurt during either incident.
Two cars and two vans can be seen within the cordon today and shattered glass can be seen on the ground next one of vans, which has a damaged window.
Scenes of crime officers were seen combing the street and taking photographs this morning.
The cordon, close to the junction with Roundwood Grove, is taped off at both ends, blocked by police cars and with officers standing guard.

South Yorkshire Police said: “Police are investigating two firearms incidents in the Rawmarsh area of Rotherham.
“Police were called at 9.55pm on Tuesday, February 4 following reports shots were fired towards an unoccupied, stationary vehicle parked on Hawthorne Avenue, causing damage.
“Officers are also investigating reports of an aggravated burglary at a nearby address.
“Nobody was hurt during either incident.
“Enquiries are underway and anyone with information is asked to call police.”
