Guthrie, formerly of Willman Road, Barnsley, was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison and ordered to pay a victim surcharge. The court heard how he spent a week searching for and threatening another man with violence – including threats that involved use of a shotgun.

Also appearing at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court on Monday 11 May was Andrew Bond, 49, formerly of Beech Close, Brierley, who was sentenced to six weeks in prison after being convicted of domestic assault by beating.

Detective Sergeant Adrienne Sheekey from Barnsley’s Domestic Abuse team said: “The last week has seen three individuals sentenced for domestic abuse offences and sent to prison.

“We have a dedicated team of officers and staff who are working around the clock to support victims of domestic abuse and bring perpetrators before the courts.
