Two days left to apply for South Yorkshire Police’s top cop job – worth £167k per YEAR
Applications for the role, to replace Chief Constable Stephen Watson, are being accepted until Friday.
Chf Con Watson is preparing to move to Greater Manchester Police for a reported £200,000-a-year salary after nearly five years at the helm in South Yorkshire.

Hide AdDuring his tenure at South Yorkshire Police, the force has been ranked as the most improved force in the country for three consecutive years.
He was appointed following a troubled period which included the child sexual exploitation scandal in Rotherham, where victims were said to have been let down by the force.
Mr Watson started his career in Lancashire in 1988 and as he progressed through the ranks worked for Merseyside Police, London’s Metropolitan Police and Durham Constabulary.
He was awarded the Queens Police Medal for distinguished service in 2019.

Hide AdThe advert for his replacement states that South Yorkshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner is looking to appoint ‘an experienced and exceptional individual with the right values, ambition and commitment to lead South Yorkshire Police in building on its recent substantial improvement in performance and delivery of services’.
It continues: “The successful applicant will provide ethical, inspirational, inclusive, and resilient leadership for the police service working with the Police and Crime Commissioner and senior leadership group to keep South Yorkshire safe.”
Chf Constable Watson’s successor will be in charge of a force made up of 2,804 officers, 145 Police and Community Support Officers and 2,434 members of staff.
