NPAS has been noticeably busy in the skies of South Yorkshire over recent weeks, with some residents convinced that planes and helicopters are being used to help enforce coronavirus lockdown rules.
South Yorkshire Police denies the suggestion and insists air support is being used for routine incidents such as missing people enquiries and pursuits.

Hide AdNPAS said that between 6am yesterday and 6am today, its helicopters and planes were used in operations which led to 16 arrests.
It said: “We’ve assisted Essex Police, British Transport Police, Metropolitan Police, Surrey Police, Avon and Somerset Police, West Yorkshire Police, Warwickshire Police and South Yorkshire Police resulting in 16 people being arrested in last 24 hours.”
Under lockdown rules people can only leave their homes for food shopping, medical supplies and appointments, exercise and essential travel to work.
