CSI van arrives in Sheffield street after taxi shooting

CSI officers have been deployed to a Sheffield street where a taxi was shot at last night.

They are working within a cordon erected in Margate Drive, Pitsmoor, following a gun attack reported to emergency services at 9.30pm yesterday.

A white Seat estate, bearing a City Taxis logo, was shot at in the attack, with the driver’s side window shattered during the incident.

It has not yet been revealed by South Yorkshire Police whether anyone was injured in the shooting.

The force said enquiries are under way to establish who was in the taxi when the gun was fired.

One arrest has been made so far.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said: “An investigation is under way after reports of a shot being fired towards a taxi last night.

“Officers were called to Margate Drive at around 9.30pm.

“Damage was caused to the vehicle.

Enquiries are underway to trace the passengers of the vehicle.

“One person has been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences.”
