Dangerous pills stolen

A BATCH of potentially-deadly tablets has been stolen in a house burglary in Rotherham.

A woman collected the tablets from Boots the chemist on Howard Street in the town centre at around 4.15pm on Saturday.

She then went shopping for about 20 minutes at Rotherham Centenary Market before returning to her home on Chesterhill Avenue, Dalton, at around 5.15pm. Then she discovered the tablets were missing.

The drugs include 30 prednisolone tablets - a steroid used to help control inflammatory and allergic disorders - and 50 to 100 tablets of strong painkiller dihydrocodeine.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “As with all medication, these tablets should not be taken by anyone other than the person they were prescribed to.

“Anyone who finds them should call the Safer Neighbourhood Unit immediately on 01709 832 207.”
