Death crash man 'drove wrong way'
A MAN from Doncaster has died after crashing into a lorry as he drove the wrong way down the A1 in West Yorkshire.
The 54-year-old man, who is not being named until later today, was killed early yesterday on the northbound carriageway near Darrington when his car hit the lorry.
West Yorkshire Police said: "A lorry travelling north collided with a blue Vauxhall Zafira which it is believed was travelling south on the same carriageway."
The lorry driver suffered shock but was not injured, police added.
Part of the northbound carriageway of the A1 was closed for several hours as traffic police examined the scene.
