Dinner ladies serve up final meals

THESE Rotherham dinner ladies have hung up their aprons for the last time - after cooking up more than 60 years' service between them.

Marie Lunn, cook in charge at Wingfield School, and Val Turton who works as a general kitchen assistant, have both dished up their last school dinners.

To mark their retirements the whole school got together to wish them well and say a big thank you.

Marie has worked for Rotherham Council for 36 years, while Val has notched up 31 years’ service.

Headteacher Pippa Dodgson said: “From my earliest involvement with Wingfield, Marie has led her team in providing a highly effective, well-run and above all caring service for the students and staff of the school.

“I have rarely come across someone who puts so much of herself into doing her best for everyone. Marie, Val and all their colleagues epitomise the best of Wingfield's values of high personal standards in a caring environment.

“Clearly we are going to miss them and we all wish them the very best in their retirement.”
