Dispute between Cliff Richard and BBC over South Yorkshire Police raid reaches final stage

Lawyers are preparing for the final stage of a High Court dispute between Sir Cliff Richard and the BBC over its coverage of a South Yorkshire Police raid on the singer's home.

Sir Cliff is suing the BBC for a breach of privacy over the raid in August 2014 and is calling for damages at the 'top end' of the scale.

South Yorkshire Police paid Sir Cliff £400,000 in an out-of-court settlement but the BBC has defended its actions.

Mr Justice Mann, who is overseeing the case, is due to start considering barristers' closing legal arguments today.

Sir Cliff is not expected to be at the hearing.
