Exhibition time for Hallam Art Group

Vivienne Milburn always enjoyed painting, but running her own firm in Bolsterstone as an antiques valuer and auctioneer meant she was kept busy.

However, when she wanted to renew her interest she thought it would be good to be inspired by others - so she joined Hallam Art Group, where the membership includes professional artists and novices.

“I considered myself a landscape painter, but during one of the sessions I discovered I could paint people and have since been painting portraits. It was wonderful to discover something new about myself aged 55,” she said.

Vivienne is showing her work for the first time at the group’s latest exhibition, on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm at the Hallam Community Centre in Lodge Moor, where the society meets every Thursday. Artists’ work will be on sale, as well as refreshments. Entry free. Visit www.hallamartgroup.org.uk for details.
