Fears over traffic speed

A GOVERNMENT planning expert has raised concerns about the speed of traffic on Hatfield Woodhouse's Bawtry Road.

Department for Communities and Local Government inspector Allan Blackley was called in to decide on an appeal against a Doncaster Council decision to refuse to allow a driveway entrance to be put in place on the road, close to the end of the 30mph limit zone.

He turned the appeal down and raised concerns about the number of vehicles triggering a sign which flashed the words: “30mph - Slow Down.”

His report stated: “The repeated triggering of the warning sign on the northbound carriageway would suggest traffic calming measures may not have been as successful as would have been wished.”
